Folio, both Volumes are uniformly bound in Half Morocco, rich gilt tiltes to front board and spine, gilt all edges. Includes 72 Luxury Plates complete with Text description, plates produced in permanent autotype photography. Classic must have set for anyone with a Liverpool Historical Library. This set stands out from other sets I've handled due to the wonderful condition and lack of damage to the very weighty boards. There is some bumping and rubbing to corners and heads but nothing serious and no splitting or wear to the spine joints. Published in 1878 this is the  first edition thus though was privately printed for subscribers in 1877. (I also have a copy of this very rare limited subscribers edition listed). Internally there is some light foxing to prelims and the occaisional spot through text, all the prints are in lovely clean condition.
